Polymer is the most widely used membrane material for gas separation. Polymers are the suitable choice of membranes as they can be processed into hollow fibers with high surface areas. The relatively low cost of manufacturing fibers makes them acceptable for large-scale industrial applications. Polymeric gas separation membranes have become competent over the past few decades. Mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) are the new hybrid composite membranes in which the inorganic nano or micro-sized particles are homogeneously integrated into the polymer matrix.
